Manual Installation Instructions

The manual installation process for Virtix Bravo and Virtix Echo is simple. Both Virtix Bravo and Virtix Echo are single plug-in files that need to be placed in an appropriate folder.

The plugins can be found in the SIT file that you downloaded from the Virtix web store. The OS 9 plugins are "Installation Files:OS 9:Virtix Bravo Classic" and "Installation Files:OS 9:Virtix Echo Classic." The OS X plugins are "Installation Files:OS X:Virtix Bravo" and "Installation Files:OS X:Virtix Echo."

The instructions for installing the Virtix Bravo and Virtix Echo effects under OS X are similar to the instructions that Apple uses for its own "iMovie Plug-in Pack 2.1.1 for Mac OS X." Until Apple changes its web address, you can find Apple's installation instructions for iMovie 2.1 and iMovie 2.1.1 in many languages here.

Please follow the manual installation instructions below:

If you are using iMovie 2, 3 or 4 for OS X, but are not using iMovie 2.1, please do the following:

Quit iMovie, if it is open.
On your Mac OS X hard disk, open the Library folder inside your Home folder.
If no iMovie folder already exists inside the Library folder, choose New Folder from the File menu and create a new folder inside the Library folder. Name the new folder iMovie.
Open the iMovie folder. If no Plug-ins folder already exists inside the iMovie folder, choose New Folder from the File menu and create a new folder inside the iMovie folder. Name the new folder Plug-ins.
Drag the "Virtix Bravo" and "Virtix Echo" files into the Plug-ins folder.
Restart iMovie.

If you have iMovie version 2.1 for OS X, please do the following:

Quit iMovie, if it is open.
On your hard disk, open the Plugins folder. Depending on where you installed iMovie, the path to the Plugins folder may be either this:

Applications:iMovie for Mac OS X:Resources:Plugins

or this:

Applications:iMovie for Mac OS X:iMovie:Resources:Plugins
Drag the "Virtix Bravo" and "Virtix Echo" files into the Plugins folder.
Restart iMovie.

If you have iMovie version 2.0.3 for OS 9, please do the following:

Quit iMovie, if it is open.
Place the "Virtix Bravo Classic" file in your iMovie Plugin effects folder. On our machines this folder is: "Macintosh HD:Applications (MacOS 9):iMovie:iMovie:Resources:Plugins:Effects". The location of your folder may be slightly different.
Place the "Virtix Echo Classic" file in your iMovie Plugin transitions folder. On our machines this folder is: "Macintosh HD:Applications (MacOS 9):iMovie:iMovie:Resources:Plugins:Transitions". The location of your folder may be slightly different.
Restart iMovie.
