Extreme Black And White
The Extreme Black and White effect finds a brightness value where roughly half the pixels are above the value and half the pixels are below this value. The pixels above this value are set to white. The pixels below this value are set to black.
Sliders
White - Controls the proportion of white in the image.
Smoothness - Controls the smoothness of the black and white contours. Low smoothness will tend to look harsh and grainy. High smoothness will tend to create more solid, gentle contours. (The smoothness slider was added in version 2.0.)
Usage
The Extreme Black and White effect yields an image that has much less information than the original image, because all color information and shading information has been lost. One possible use for this effect would be to represent images that you would not want to represent in vivid detail and color (like a crime scene or a dream).
